S25.24.22* Advancing Comprehensive Support for Adult Learners in California Community Colleges
As part of my commitment to improving resources for adult students, I championed the resolution “Advancing Comprehensive Support for Adult Learners in California Community Colleges.” This initiative has been a key part of my advocacy, aiming to secure dedicated support centers, tailored financial aid, and specialized faculty training to address the unique challenges faced by adult learners. By working collaboratively with student organizations and policy makers, I have advanced practical solutions to bridge the gap in educational equity—ensuring that every student, regardless of age or circumstance, has the opportunity to thrive academically and professionally. – Resolution sponsored by Associated Students of Riverside City College, Adopted by State Senate for California Community Colleges.

Research opportunities and support
Expanding research opportunities for community college students is a key priority for me. Access to hands-on research experience is critical for academic and professional growth, yet these opportunities are often limited at the community college level. Through my work, I’m dedicated to creating pathways that support and empower students with the skills, mentorship, and experience needed to succeed in higher education and beyond.

The S.T.A.R.T. (Scholars Training in Academic Research and Technical Skills) program is a student-led, grant-funded initiative designed to provide community college students—especially those from underrepresented backgrounds—with meaningful research experience, technical skill development, and academic mentorship. In my role, While I no longer oversee the program, I continue to support its mission, advocating for equitable access to these transformative opportunities.
Other key issues
Distance learning expansion
Distance learning is essential for ensuring equitable access to education, especially for working students, caregivers, and those in underserved communities. Without sustained funding, institutions cannot provide the necessary technology, faculty training, and support services that make online education effective. This initiative aligns with my commitment to student rights and representation by advocating for long-term investment in distance education, ensuring that all students—regardless of their circumstances—have the resources they need to succeed.
Support for STEAM
As a dedicated advocate for STEAM, I actively participate in organizations like IEEE and student programs such as MESA to support and uplift the next generation of innovators. As one of the few STEAM voices in the political spaces I occupy, I work to ensure that STEAM students have the resources, representation, and opportunities they need to thrive. Whether through policy advocacy or direct involvement in STEAM communities, I am committed to bridging the gap between technology and leadership.
Volunteering programs and community engagement opportunities
I stand behind initiatives like College Corps that empower individuals and strengthen communities. Volunteering has enriched my life—boosting my financial security, deepening my sense of purpose, and shaping my “leadership through service” philosophy. I advocate for policies that invest in these transformative programs because when we uplift each other, we build a stronger, more equitable future.
Student representation
I believe every student deserves to be heard. I’ve been in rooms where, despite carrying the responsibility of representing thousands, powerful voices often overlook the very students who sustain these institutions. That’s why I stand up for my fellow students—because their voices matter and deserve real representation.
Afro-Latino & Indigenous representation
As an Afro-Latino native immersed in a blend of rich cultures, I’m proud to represent not only my heritage but also the diverse community around me. I work every day to uplift those whose voices are too often muted, striving to be both a representative and an example for others in our shared journey toward a more inclusive future.
Student rights
I see student rights as fundamental human rights. Time and again, I’ve witnessed those in power neglect the very individuals who support them. That’s why I fight tirelessly to secure and protect the rights of every student, ensuring that our community stands strong against any threat to our freedoms.
